No-Bake Nutella Black & White Mousse Pie

Nutella Black & White Mousse Pie: 5 ingredients, 5 steps, no baking! --- Ms. Toody Goo Shoes

Do you need an ultra-fantabulous
dessert idea for Memorial Day weekend?

I've got one for you.

Seriously.
I think I may have found one of the
"Seven Wonders of the Dessert World."

     Yes, it involves Nutella...
has only five ingredients.
  there's no baking...
whips up in minutes...
and it's delicious...

So what if it's fattening as all get-out?

Nutella Black & White Mousse Pie: 5 ingredients, 5 steps, no baking! --- Ms. Toody Goo Shoes

Last week, we were invited to a friend's house,
and she told me to bring "a Ms. Toody dessert."

I searched through my recipes, but
nothing was quite doing it for me,
until I found a skinny Nutella pamphlet
hiding in my bookcase

A little black and white pie
got my attention.
Oh, baby.
That's what I'm talkin' about.

It was super-easy to make.

The pie had to chill in the fridge for at least an hour,
and I didn't want to shmoosh it by covering it
until it had firmed up a bit.
Do you know how risky that was,
with Junior Goo Shoes in and out of the refrigerator
no less than 100 times a day?
I had visions of opening the fridge,
and finding a milk carton crashed on top it of it.
I was so relieved -- and shocked -- that the pie was intact
when it was time to take it to my friends' house.

However....

We were about a mile away,
when a car suddenly cut us off.
Mr. Goo Shoes had to jam on the brakes.

Whew.
Close call.

Except that the pie slid off my lap and onto the floor.

Now, we had Upside-Down Nutella Pie.

As I told my friends,
better the pie than us.

Actually, it wasn't too bad.
It kind of slid itself back into the pie plate,
so the damaged part was mostly hidden.
I was hoping it was worse,
just so I could get some good pictures, haha!

My friend had a fabulous spread.
It was all pretty healthy stuff,
so I decided not to tell them what was in the pie,
as these are pretty diet-conscious folks.

They loved it! The pie was a hit!

Now I'm worrying that after reading the ingredients in this post,
my friends are going to unfriend me...
and I mean for real...
not just on Facebook.

Either that, or next time I'm invited,
they'll ask me to bring the salad.

Since I couldn't very well bring a pie with a piece missing,
I had to make another one this past weekend
just so I could get some photos of a single slice.
The sacrifices one must make for blogging!

Junior Goo Shoes was happy since
he didn't get any the first time.

If you make this, here are a few helpful hints...

*Spray your measuring cups with cooking spray
before filling with Nutella,
and it will slide right out into the bowl.

*Microwave the Nutella for 10 seconds
at a time to soften.

*Chill the bowl before whipping the heavy cream.
The heavy cream should be cold.

*Serve the pie right out of the fridge,
as it softens quickly.

*When adding the second layer of the Nutella mixture,
strongly resist the urge to nicely spread it around.

I did that the first time...
but it looks better if you just blob it on.
It would look even better if there was
about an inch of white showing around the edge.
I forgot about that the second time,
because I was too busy "blobbing."

Next time, I'll get it right.

No-Bake Nutella Black & White Mousse Pie
(aka, Black & White Cheesecake, Recipe courtesy of Nutella)

1 8-ounce package of Cream Cheese
1/4 Cup Sugar
2 Cups Heavy Cream, divided
3/4 Cup Nutella
1 6-ounce chocolate pie crust

In a bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar with an electric mixer for 2 minutes until light and fluffy.

In a separate bowl, whisk 1/2 cup heavy cream with the Nutella, leaving no lumps.

Whip the remaining heavy cream until soft peaks form.

Divide the cream in half, folding half into the cream cheese and half into the Nutella mixture.

Alternately spoon the two batters into the pie crust, creating layers.

Refrigerate for at least one hour and serve.

Serving suggestions:
Top with chocolate sprinkles, or chocolate cookie crunch.

  1. I knew I shouldn't even open this up when I saw the title - but I couldn't resist. This will be my contribution to the next pot luck, as my family loves Nutella - it's a breakfast food here, with Havarti cheese. I've also made your Nutella banana bread - a big hit. Can't wait to try this!

  2. Yummymammy! :-)

My corner grocery store carries an all-natural hazelnut-dark-chocolate spread, in short, Nutella with less sugar. My recipe of delight is simple: Open a jar of peanut butter and a jar of hazelnut-chocolate spread, help yourself with a spoon, alternating between the jars. ;-)

  3. Haha! Nice recovery on the pie. You are too funny. I wonder what would happen if we had a wine night together here in Vegas. Police? News Crew? :)
Back to the pie - amazing!! So killer. I'm not sure we should make it as it will certainly not be shared with anyone. Thanks chic for another wonderfully yummy idea and entertaining presentation. XO! sharon and d

    1. No, YOU are the too funny one! I'm hysterical here...and oh how tempting it would be to find out what happens over wine. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? RIGHT? Don't make the pie. I totally get it. If you're going to eat it all yourself, you won't like me anymore!

    1. And I wish I could give you a piece, Kelly! Nutella is SO delicious, but it's also fattening! 200 calories for 2 tablespoons. I heard that they just opened a Nutella bar in NYC - you know I have to go and check that out!
