A "Bubbly" New Year's Eve Centerpiece

A "Bubbly" New Year's Eve Centerpiece that takes only 30 seconds to make! --- by Ms. Toody Goo Shoes

Do you need a quick and easy centerpiece for New Year's Eve?

If you've got 30 seconds, I've got a simple idea for you.

You'll need only two items (both of which I got at Michael's craft store) --

...a giant Champagne glass...

...and lots of gold glass stones.

Are you ready for the tutorial?

Step 1:

Put the stones in the glass.

That's it...you're done!

Now you've got a giant glass of bubbly to put on your bar, dining table or buffet table on New Year's Eve.

And you didn't think I wasn't crafty! Hah!

On my dining room table, I use two glasses...

...but this year, I thought I'd change things up and use just one on the bar.

A Bubbly New Year's Eve

Super easy.

Now, all that's left to do is to put some bubbly on ice...

...Set up the champagne flutes...

...And go put your party dress on.

So what are your plans for New Year's Eve?

Do you like to go out to a fancy place, or stay at home?

We' spend every New Year's Eve with my BFF and her hub, and we alternate houses.   Sometimes it's just us, sometimes it's with other people, too. Last year was the first time in many that we weren't together, because we were in Israel.

This year, it will be just us. Nice and quiet. Lots of time to catch up with each other.

We like to have tons of appetizers, and dessert. Who needs to eat a main course at 10 or 11pm? Not me, I'd rather stuff myself on appies, have dessert and call it a night. I'm thinking mini molten lava cakes this year, so stay tuned for that post.

I hope the snow doesn't ruin our plans. It's snowed three times this week, and everything's gotten cancelled. Not that we've had that much in terms of inches...just enough to be a nuisance.  It is pretty, though.

Whatever YOU do, have a Happy, Healthy and SAFE New Year's!

  1. Just goes to show - we all have a little bit of the crafter in us. Now, that's my kind of craft!
New Year's Eve? We will dance it away at the Ward Room ( naval officers' mess) with friends as we have for last few years. I love an excuse to dress up!

    1. Yes, and I have VERY little crafter in me! Have a great time at the Ward Room. I love an excuse to get dressed up, but I'll have to settle for just a sparkly top this year! Happy New Year!

  2. Super fun and easy idea. I love "low maintenance" / high impact at the holidays. Thanks for the idea! :) Pinned!

  3. You CRACK me up!

    'Step 1:

Put the stones in the glass.

    That's it...you're done!'

Done decorating, yes, but then we have to CRACK open the bottle of champagne, no? Totally agree with you...appetizers and dessert, for all the reasons you mentioned. Looking out for those lava cakes, my friend!

    1. I'm so glad you appreciate my sense of humor, Poppy! That's about as much crafting as I can handle! And yes, we have to crack open at least one bottle! Lava cakes coming soon!

  4. Even I might be able to pull that off! Thank you! I was wondering what your menu would be and appetizers and dessert, especially chocolate, sounds delicious. And the table from a previous year is lovely. So is your snow. I thought of you when I saw the forecast for the NE. If only it would snow at a convenient time!

We are usually home on New Year's Eve. We used to have family here or go to their house and it was a pajama party. Lately it has just been a pot of homemade soup, a loaf of homemade bread, leftover Christmas sweets, and to bed early. Boring. But nice to be inside instead of out on the road with the crazies!

    1. That's about the extent of my crafting abilities! As for the snow, today was supposed to be 1-3 inches, but we got 7 or 8. Maybe we're done for the next couple of weeks! I totally agree with you about being home instead of on the road. When it's our turn to go to our friends', it's about a 25 minute drive, and I cannot wait until we pull in the driveway. Enjoy your cozy, quiet night, and have a very Happy New Year, Dewena!

  5. Brilliant bubbly display! Your table looks beautiful! New Year's Eve is usually spent with a group of friends from our church although this year we might just stay in and have a more relaxed evening by ourselves - maybe with some bubbly? Crazy/beautiful snow over here too!!!

  6. Love it! Your display looks awesome! We usually spend New Year's at a friend's. I wouldn't say it's a nice quiet night, but they're old friends that are just always easy to be around.

You're so funny. It sounds like a great New Year's Eve. Love your twinkle lights and can't wait for the lava cake recipe.

    1. I know, the tutorial is very complicated! That's because I am such an advanced crafter! I got the twinkle lights at Restoration Hardware.

  8. And there I thought I was super-organized (all ready for Christmas because I have two more trips planned this week)! It looks looks so very festive and inviting! I hope Father Snow shows mercy and takes his bounty somewhere else, like the North Pole!
Have a safe and happy holiday season!
    Hugs, Merisi

(I was thinking of you early yesterday, hoping the chandeliers above Graben Square would be lit because it was still dark, but to! And I had left super early to have time to snap a few pictures. i will get those pictures, I promise, and if I have to bribe the city officials to light them for me! ;-)

    1. Yes, the snow should stay in the North Pole where it belongs! That is so sweet that you thought of me with the chandeliers...Somehow, I don't doubt that you can influence the city officials. Just say, "But I have this blog!" Merry Christmas, Merisi!

  9. That is really a cute idea for New Year's Eve. It is always fun and we usually host an open house for the kids---and then the big kids go out on the town and the little kids snuggle in with Nana & Papa and we watch movies and SOME OF US stay up and ring in the new year. SOME OF US are carried to bed in our pjs with feet in them!:>) xo Diana

  10. That's a cute idea! I've never seen a jumbo champagne glass like that before. I love the shape of the ones you have set up on the tray! They are pretty. Your set-up looks perfect under the XL clock on the wall. We usually spend New Years Eve at home every year. I don't want to be out on the roads with all the drunks! LOL.

    1. In Michael's craft stores (do they have them by you?) they have all kinds of oversize glasses. I also have a martini glass. It's not quite as big as the champagne glass, but it's fun. The flutes on the tray are my favorite glasses. I've had them for years, and cannot remember where I got them, but I think it may have been a store called Conran's in NYC, which is no longer there. I hate being on the roads on New Year's Eve, too.
