I love the colors of October.
November 1st is here, with rain and gusty winds,
washing fall's hues away.
The events of the past month are a colorful blur,
fortunately, captured below to jog the memory.
Time to start thinking about Thanksgiving, the holidays, and New Year's Eve,
which will be here in a blink.
Sheesh.
Slow down, time...slow down...
I need more than the extra hour that we'll get tonight.

October 1
Neighborhood trees on first of month; mostly green.
October 2
Mums outside NY Public Library; 5th Ave and 42nd Street.
Acorn still-life.

October 4
Dessert for breaking the fast on Yom Kippur...Plain Jane German Chocolate Cake and Rugelach, which I somehow managed not to eat while it was in the freezer.

October 5
Multitasking and chillaxing.
The neighbor's take on fall.
October 7
My list of favorite aromas ignited a craving for sauteed peppers and onions (and turkey sausage) for dinner.
October 8
Dinner with my BFF to celebrate our birthdays at Marea (Central Park South and 7th Ave.). Yes, I did buy a new outfit in the middle of the day.
October 9
Apple season! Fujis and peanut butter.
October 10
Nature's fall vignette.
October 11
Visiting our nieces at the Farmers' Market, where they sell the veggies and fruits of their labor.
October 12
The men were at their high school reunion; the ladies had a perfect day for brunch at Half Moon...one of my favorite restaurants, on the Hudson River in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
October 13
Sunday foliage drive.
October 14
Butterfly sculpture at the New York Palace Hotel (formerly the Helmsley Palace of Leona fame, who left $12 million to her dog).
October 15
Same neighborhood shot as October 1st. Leaves are turning.
October 16
Doing some fall shopping at Trader Joe's.
October 17
I bought a little too much candy corn. Better think of something to do with it.
October 18
The squirrels are eating my hair-sprayed, cayenne-peppered pumpkin. Very sophisticated palates.
Junior GS was playing with my new camera. I don't know what setting he had it on to get this shot. It's like the Waterlogue ap, right in the camera.
October 20
Left-over egg muffins from yesterday's brunch with a good friend, who came to visit. Recipe to come!
October 21
Acorn art.
October 22
What the??? A lone leaf on steroids...almost a foot long.
October 23
Gloomy skies, bright lights over Times Square, New York City.
October 24
Morning coffee and brain aerobics.
October 25
Stumbled upon this fabulous display in the front yard of a house in a neighboring town.
October 26
Bagging up the Halloween candy! Pack one, eat one.
October 27
The "nook" surrounded by fall foliage.
October 28
Enjoying my Baked Apple Compote on a waffle.
October 29
Times Square Station; 42nd Street, waiting for the R train to SoHo. Terrible picture, I know, but there are some places it's not OK to look like a tourist. Had to sneak this one on my cell phone.
October 30
Neighborhood trees at end of month. Almost peaking.
October 31
Ready for the Halloween candy crush. Broke our record with 350 trick-or-treaters, and ran out of candy in 2 1/2 hours.
Have a great November!
