Do you ever give in to those days when you just want to stay in bed
and pull the covers over your head?
As much as it sounds appealing to curl up under my down comforter
on a cold and rainy day, it's not something I ever do.
I'm too practical to waste a day, but, hey, I'm not judging.
In fact, I admire those of you who allow yourselves
the gift of a day in bed doing nothing.
I'd like to do it........It's just not in my DNA.
Now that we've given the bedroom an update, and painted it a neutral color,
I find myself wandering in often, just to admire its new look.
Even though it feels more serene, and conducive to napping,
I still can't justify spending the day in there,
whiling away the hours in my pj's.
We don't have a TV in the bedroom,
so it's not like I can lounge around in bed and binge-watch The Crown all day.
The TV is in our den, just off the bedroom, and I can't see it from the bed.
(Speaking of The Crown, if you want to see "the queen" of all makeovers,
click here to see what the den used to look like).
I can barely sleep at night in pitch darkness,
let alone snooze in broad daylight.
I'm no more a napper than I am a rapper, or a trapper,
(although some may say I'm a bit of a yapper).
My eyes would probably never shut once,
if I spent the day in bed.

Bedroom Before: Ugly wallpaper, dark paint under chair rail. |
Bedroom During: Wallpaper is removed. |
Bedroom After: Benjamin Moore Barely Beige paint on walls; french doors painted black. |

The side table used to be in the living room; the painting was previously on another wall. |

Sure, I could curl up with a good book,
but after an hour, I'd be jumping out of bed every two minutes,
thinking of things I should be doing.
Better throw in a load of laundry!
Am I missing any ingredients for tonight's dinner?
Did Junior Goo Shoes shut the garage door when he left this morning?
Is there water in Sadie's bowl?
What can I eat?
Did the mailman come yet?
Where is that beach cover up I'll need three months from now?

I've got what's called "shpilkes,"
otherwise known as nervous energy.
Nah, I'm not one for lounging around doing nothing.
Although it sure does sounds appealing.......YAWN.....😫
Maybe I should go upstairs and give it a try.
I was too lazy to make the bed, on the other side of the room.
Just kidding - I'll show you that angle after I replace the bed linens.
Admittedly, that could be years from now, lol.

ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful. I love the den too. I remember that one. Fabulous. Sadly, I'm a napper. I wish I wasn't.
ReplyDeleteI like you new calm and serene look, Amy. Your room is beautiful.

ReplyDeleteLove the new look to your bedroom. Very cozy and pretty. I always believe our bedrooms should be our sanctuary that we go to at the end of the day. Yours looks so inviting and sweet. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
I'm the same way Amy. No lounging around all day for me! Too many places to go, people to see...everything for you and meeeeeeeee! Sorry...
ReplyDeleteI thought the room looked pretty with the before, but the after is even better. Love the paint choice for the lower half of the wall.

ReplyDeleteGreat job, Amy! :-)
ReplyDeleteI confess to indulge for an extra hour in bed, after having made myself a big cup of caffè latte, and read, on Sundays, every now and then. Makes me feel of being in the lap of luxury, and gives me energy for the week ahead.
Your bedroom came out beautiful and I love the new paint color! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you girlfriend, I can't even sleep late. It feels like a waste of the day. Love the new look and your bedside tables are lovely.

I share your inability to sleep late or laze the day away. Too much to do to give in to total relaxation although we are trying to perfect "Polynesian paralysis" while in Hawaii so my blog post today touches on the same sort of relax vs. do conflict examination. LOVE the look of your bedroom!
ReplyDeleteLove it so far. What a difference the new walls make. Love the black French doors and how it all ties into the den.
ReplyDeleteI love the new softer tones of your bedroom. And the den looks like the perfect spot to read when it's rainy and cold outside.
ReplyDeleteHi Amy, We recently redecorated our master suite and a new look is very refreshing and can be invigorating. Your room looks lovely. Enjoy it. Joan-My Cookie Clinic
ReplyDeleteI love the new color you gave it. Your bedroom looks like a hotel suite with it's seperate den! Very pretty.
