Cheap & Cheerful Centerpiece

Cheap and Cheerful Flower Pot Centerpiece --- Ms. Toody Goo Shoes

Are you ready for some weekend?
Me, too.

Don't you just love when good things happen by accident?

The centerpiece for my Mother's Day table wasn't planned...
it just sort of happened.

My sister and my cousins were coming over,
and I wanted to give the ladies a little "something."
I didn't have anything specific in mind,
until I walked into Anthropologie
and saw these cute little flower pots.
Actually, they are "aged herb pots."

 They were only $6 each.
Done!

I was planning to fill them with herbs,
like the name said,
but when I saw flats of Coleus at the nursery,
they were just so colorful,
 I couldn't pass them up...
and... they looked so pretty with the green pots.

The flat was $12.00, bringing the total cost
of my little gifts to $30, or $10 per person.

Now my sister and cousins know how cheap I am.

Or...maybe they already knew.

I used four plants in each pot.

Even on that gray and gloomy day,
they looked really cheerful.

I brought them inside, and for the time being,
plopped the pots on the dining room table.

Hmmm...
they looked pret-ty, pret-ty good there.
But it needed something.
I grabbed the silver tray from the bar
in the family room.

Yes, much better.

And my accidental centerpiece was born.

Now remember, I was giving these away.
But I liked them enough that I was
thinking about buying three more pots for myself.

I thought they'd make a nice centerpiece
on my round kitchen table.

Nice, yeah.

 Or maybe...
they'd look good on the bar in the family room.

Where's that silver tray?

I was running all over my house
with those three planters.

They looked good everywhere,
I put them...
but do you know where they looked best?

In the hands of my guests
where they were intended to be in the first place.

I am going to see if I can get three more, for me, though.

Happy Weekend, All!

  4. Oh yes, get them for yourself before too many people read this post and create a run on herb pots! I love it. This morning, as I was rearranging bouquets for around the house (house sale, you know, and I need to keep it all fresh) I was wondering what else I could do. Thanks for the idea - there's no Anthropologie near here, but I'm sure I can find a substitute - and I have a flat of coleus already, and lots of silver trays.

  5. That was such a good idea to place little coleus plants in them. I like small plants grouped together like that.
