I've got one for you.
Seriously.
I think I may have found one of the
"Seven Wonders of the Dessert World."
So what if it's fattening as all get-out?
Yes, it involves Nutella...
has only five ingredients.
there's no baking...
whips up in minutes...
and it's delicious...
Last week, we were invited to a friend's house,
and she told me to bring "a Ms. Toody dessert."
I searched through my recipes, but
nothing was quite doing it for me,
until I found a skinny Nutella pamphlet
hiding in my bookcase.
A little black and white pie
got my attention.
Oh, baby.
That's what I'm talkin' about.
It was super-easy to make.
and I didn't want to shmoosh it by covering it
until it had firmed up a bit.
until it had firmed up a bit.
Do you know how risky that was,
with Junior Goo Shoes in and out of the refrigerator
no less than 100 times a day?
I had visions of opening the fridge,
and finding a milk carton crashed on top it of it.
I was so relieved -- and shocked -- that the pie was intact
We were about a mile away,
when a car suddenly cut us off.
Mr. Goo Shoes had to jam on the brakes.
Whew.
Close call.
Except that the pie slid off my lap and onto the floor.
Now, we had Upside-Down Nutella Pie.
As I told my friends,
better the pie than us.
Actually, it wasn't too bad.
It kind of slid itself back into the pie plate,
so the damaged part was mostly hidden.
I was hoping it was worse,
just so I could get some good pictures, haha!
My friend had a fabulous spread.
It was all pretty healthy stuff,
so I decided not to tell them what was in the pie,
as these are pretty diet-conscious folks.
Now I'm worrying that after reading the ingredients in this post,
my friends are going to unfriend me...
and I mean for real...
not just on Facebook.
Either that, or next time I'm invited,
they'll ask me to bring the salad.
Since I couldn't very well bring a pie with a piece missing,
I had to make another one this past weekend
I had to make another one this past weekend
just so I could get some photos of a single slice.
The sacrifices one must make for blogging!
he didn't get any the first time.
If you make this, here are a few helpful hints...
*Spray your measuring cups with cooking spray
before filling with Nutella,
and it will slide right out into the bowl.
*Microwave the Nutella for 10 seconds
at a time to soften.
*Chill the bowl before whipping the heavy cream.
The heavy cream should be cold.
*Serve the pie right out of the fridge,
as it softens quickly.

*Serve the pie right out of the fridge,
as it softens quickly.
*When adding the second layer of the Nutella mixture,
strongly resist the urge to nicely spread it around.
I did that the first time...
but it looks better if you just blob it on.
It would look even better if there was
about an inch of white showing around the edge.
about an inch of white showing around the edge.
I forgot about that the second time,
because I was too busy "blobbing."
No-Bake Nutella Black & White Mousse Pie

1 8-ounce package of Cream Cheese
1/4 Cup Sugar
2 Cups Heavy Cream, divided
3/4 Cup Nutella
1 6-ounce chocolate pie crust

In a separate bowl, whisk 1/2 cup heavy cream with the Nutella, leaving no lumps.

Whip the remaining heavy cream until soft peaks form.
Divide the cream in half, folding half into the cream cheese and half into the Nutella mixture.

Alternately spoon the two batters into the pie crust, creating layers.
Refrigerate for at least one hour and serve.

Top with chocolate sprinkles, or chocolate cookie crunch.

I knew I shouldn't even open this up when I saw the title - but I couldn't resist. This will be my contribution to the next pot luck, as my family loves Nutella - it's a breakfast food here, with Havarti cheese. I've also made your Nutella banana bread - a big hit. Can't wait to try this!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you are going to try it, and I don't think you will be disappointed! Wow - that would be my dream breakfast - Havarti and Nutella! I'm swooning!
DeleteYummymammy! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy corner grocery store carries an all-natural hazelnut-dark-chocolate spread, in short, Nutella with less sugar. My recipe of delight is simple: Open a jar of peanut butter and a jar of hazelnut-chocolate spread, help yourself with a spoon, alternating between the jars. ;-)
The all-natural spread would just take this into the stratosphere of goodness! I am totally with you on the alternating spoons - two of my favorite foods!
DeleteHaha! Nice recovery on the pie. You are too funny. I wonder what would happen if we had a wine night together here in Vegas. Police? News Crew? :)
ReplyDeleteBack to the pie - amazing!! So killer. I'm not sure we should make it as it will certainly not be shared with anyone. Thanks chic for another wonderfully yummy idea and entertaining presentation. XO! sharon and d
No, YOU are the too funny one! I'm hysterical here...and oh how tempting it would be to find out what happens over wine. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? RIGHT? Don't make the pie. I totally get it. If you're going to eat it all yourself, you won't like me anymore!
DeleteWait....we have to SHARE the pie? No way. All mine! Can't wait to try it!
DeleteNo bake sounds perfect to me! I'm not sure that would make it out of the fridge in my house. My boys have a way of sneaking stuff before anyone notices!
ReplyDeleteI have to put DO NOT EAT notes on everything! It's a great recipe for summer, by the way, since it doesn't involve an oven :)
DeleteOh my - this looks so delicious!
ReplyDeleteIt is "melt in your mouth" good!
DeleteOh this looks sooooo good Amy!
ReplyDeleteSooo good, Debbie -- very dangerous to have this in my house!
DeleteWish I could take a fork and grab a piece of it through the computer screen! Oh my goodness does it ever look good! Thanks for sharing the recipe. Do you know that I still have not tried Nutella yet?
ReplyDeleteAnd I wish I could give you a piece, Kelly! Nutella is SO delicious, but it's also fattening! 200 calories for 2 tablespoons. I heard that they just opened a Nutella bar in NYC - you know I have to go and check that out!
DeleteOh my goodness, my mouth is watering right here. I love Nutella and what a great idea to make a pie with it. I will surely make it soon. Thank you for the tip.
ReplyDeleteIf you make it, Riet, let me know if you like it! I'm sure you will. It is decadently deliciousl
DeleteBeautiful dessert and so easy to bring along (barring any incidences). Seems like you have a thing for Nutella ;-) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI do have a thing for Nutella, Beth, and I am going to scout out that bar you told me about. But I don't eat it very often at all, believe it or not!
DeleteCream cheese and Nutella! Yum! That looks so good!
ReplyDeleteSherry
It's a perfect combo! Light and creamy, yet very rich. It's delish!
DeleteThis looks so good - wish I had a nice big slice right now! Glad only the pie ended up upside down. Hmm...may have to make this soon.
ReplyDeleteI think you should make it soon, Lana! Just make sure you have lots of people around to help you eat it!
DeleteFound you at Ivy & Elephants. Wow does this look amazing and I just love the idea of a No Bake dessert when it's warm outside. I host Tickle My Tastebuds Tuesday and would love it if you linked up this recipe. I’m sure our party goers would love it as much as I do. Here is the link http://bit.ly/1oNxekf. Have a wonderful day!!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori, no-bake pies are the best! I feel like they can't be screwed up! I'll stop by your party for sure.
DeleteI'm so going to make this. I always have Nutella in the house because my oldest son eats it almost daily. Thanks for sharing your recipe.Pinned.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're going to make it, Erlene! And I appreciate the pin :)
DeleteThis looks absolutely amazing. I wish I'd read it just a couple hours earlier as I have to bring something tonight! Oh well, I'm sure there will be a few more cookouts before school is out on.....June 6th! Yay!
