Who are the most difficult people on your list to buy gifts for?

Did you say teenagers?
That's what I thought you said.

I feel the same way, and I live with one.
I'm always stumped when it comes to thinking of gift ideas.

I don't dare ask Junior Goo Shoes what he'd like,
because an Apple watch?
I. Can't. Even.

Teenagers want clothes...
just not the ones you pick out out for them.

They want the latest technology...
but whatever you buy that they really REALLY want today,
they'll be bored with by tomorrow.

They "need" their own car...
Uh, no. Just no.

Mostly, they just want to buy what they want to buy in the moment...

Stuff like music, video games, 2-pound boxes of Goldfish,
Buffalo chicken sandwiches, Sneakers, Protein bars, giant bottles of Powerade.

And for that, they need...

Bucks
Moolah
Bread
Greenbacks
Cash
Dough

Did someone say dough?

Holy pepperoni pizza...
Now there's an idea "on fleek."
That's teen talk for "on point"-- am I cool, or what?
(Don't answer that, because clearly
just trying to work that phrase into the conversation
shows exactly uncool I really am).

Tomorrow, for the fourth night of Hanukkah
instead of handing Junior Goo Shoes an envelope filled with dollar bills,
I'm going give him some pizza "dough."

I'd like to say that I came up with this idea, but I didn't.
 I saw it on Pinterest.

I went to my local pizza store, and smiled sweetly,
asking for an empty box;
then, I went to two banks, and asked for crisp dollar bills, which neither had.
I read somewhere online that you could iron old bills to make them smooth.
Yeah?...NO.
So, please forgive me for using wrinkled old bills,
and sacrificing my photo quality, kk?
If I was going to iron anything,
it would be Junior Goo Shoe's shirt that is crumpled up in the corner of his room.
That's not happening, either.

To secure the bills to the box
and the pepperoni...I mean quarters...to the bills,
I used double-sided removable tape,
so the money can be removed without tearing

I think I finally came up with something that won't be returned.
And if anyone wants to make one of these for me, please do...
with hundred dollar bills, of course ;)

  1. So cute Amy. What a great way to be creative and give money. I like this idea of giving them the money they want but being thoughtful and creative with how you did it. Super cute.
