BEST OF THE WEEKEND 3.9.18: WEATHER AND WHETHER?

Hi there, friends!
Welcome to Best Of The Weekend!
We have had quite the week of wild WEATHER!
Last Friday, we were under seige from Bomb Cyclone Riley,
which battered much of the east coast with hurricane force winds,
blinding snow and heavy rain.
Five days later -- Wednesday -- a major nor'easter roared up the coast,
dumping heavy, wet snow over much the area.
Oddly, we had only about six inches, but a town only 12 miles away got two feet of snow.
The white stuff we did get was heavy and wet,
and the ground, still saturated from Riley, couldn't handle the weight of the snow.
Trees toppled down all over town, including two right on our street.
We haven't seen anything as destructive since Super Storm Sandy back in 2012.

In other news, Junior Goo Shoes came home today for spring break!
I can hardly believe that he is almost finished with his freshman year!
It will be great to have him home,
but the question is WHETHER he will spend much time with us.........
He'll be busy seeing his high school friends,
and that's okay.
Just knowing he's under the same roof this week makes me happy!

Speaking of happy, it's time to start the Best of the Weekend party!

We'd appreciate it if you'd follow your co-hosts!

  3. We've been following your weather, and it sounds like you have another huge storm heading your way. Be safe. The erratic snow and rainfall is quite the same here. The Southside of Chicago usually gets a good wallop of snow due to our proximity to Lake Michigan. The Northwest suburbs also get a lot of snow and severe weather because it's quite open. And yes, just 6-12 miles makes a difference. How I love my weather app. I can track my weather from the cottage in Michigan to Chicago, and though it looks okay where I'm at, I might run into something along the way home.

I found the college years went by so fast with my kids. The breaks which make it a back and forth deal, is easy to handle if you are missing the kid. Even some of my nieces and nephews are further along than I thought. It can be embarrassing when I ask how their first year went, and they reply that they are in their Junior year!

Take care--have a super weekend, Amy!
