Five Things to file under "Random."
Exactly five years ago, we adopted our sweet little puppy, Sadie, also known as Miss Mess, Sadie Silverpaws, Puppy-Wuppy, Miss Girl,The Pupster, Miss Muffet, and Puppy-Dog-Girl-Face. Please...tell me that you also have crazy names for you pets. It will make me feel so much

Tic Toc, Tic Toc.
Lying awake...staring at the clock.
It's been a bad week for falling asleep.
If I don't get some shut-eye, I'm going to weep.
******************************************
Berries are my new broccoli. Blackberries have some of the same nutritional benefits as spinach, dontcha know? I started serving them with dinner as a way to sneak more anti-oxidants into the family's bellies. I am berry clever like that. Ba-DUM-bump.
******************************************
Speaking of bellies...I must lose my muffin top. I will start the Flat Belly diet today. Again.I'm serious.
I mean it this time.
Really, I will.
Right after breakfast.
Tomorrow.

Spotted these liquid hand soaps at a beauty supply store. I was tempted to buy "Cat Butt" and put it in my guest bathroom, just for laughs. What do you think -- should I go back and get it?
Sharing with Nancy's Random 5 Friday
Your puppy is adorable - mine turns 3 on Sunday and I'm amazed how fast the years have gone. She still acts like a puppy though :-)
ReplyDeleteShe is a sweetie, and I agree, the years go so fast! I can't believe we have Sadie for five years! She still acts like a puppy, too!
DeleteI don't think I've met you before, so hello! Love your pupper shot....and yes, we have a few other names for our Golden, Tanner. Tan Man, Tanner Dog and a few that can't be repeated when he digs in the yard. :-) Your Flat Belly Diet commentary made me smile (okay, laugh!). Hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteVisting from R5F
Hi Lisa, nice to meet you, too! OK, I feel better about the doggy nicknames...I was beginning to wonder. I was not successful in starting my diet today (had Mexican food instead), and who starts a diet on a Friday, anyway? Monday, for sure!
DeleteYour dog is so cute. And I vote yes on the cat hand soap! Too funny.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cynthia! I'm going to get that Cat Butt soap! How can I not? I really appreciate that you stopped by and commented on my blog.
DeleteHaha, love the "Soaprah Winfrey" hand soap! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI often referred to our beloved miniature long-haired dachshund Maxmilian als Maximilian the Great.
Hope spring is coming along fine on your shores,
Merisi
I wonder if Oprah has a bottle! Maximilian The Great is a very fine name...very regal! Spring is slowly coming...but snow is in the forecast again next week :(
DeleteOur Yorkie is named Boudreaux and we call him Boo...we even have a sign that says his name is Boo...but everyone wants to call him Bo
ReplyDeleteI say get the soap...could start a many conversation!
Boo Who?? Sorry, couldn't resist. That's a cute name for a dog. I think I have no choice but to get that soap!
DeleteShe is adorable and yes we have names for our two mini doxies. We call Peanut, peanut butter, girly, baby, scoochie, since she is a scutch for attention. Reeses we call handsome because he is so handsome, buddy and big brother. The list could go on but you get the picture. We are all nuts because we love our pets just like kids. We can't help ourselves and that is why we have them.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
You are so right, Cynthia, they are just like our kids. I feel much better now that I hear that everyone has lots of funny names for their pets!
DeleteOMG, I am cracking up. Yes, go back and get it or the Cleaner Than Shit one!!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna do it, Kim! I'm going to get both! I can't wait to see what people say -- Do you think they would wash their hands with Cat Butt? Hahaha!
Deleteoh my gosh, i love those soaps...definitely go back and get them! ha, how funny...i too am totally into blackberries lately. i like to squish them in my mouth till all the individual berry pods pop lol...that's just me though...have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI like your blackberry eating technique :) I think I absolutely MUST go back and get those soaps!
DeleteFirst ... you soooo have to go back and get the Cat Butt soap .... LOL
ReplyDeleteBerries are berry good for you .... I need to eat more.
I also need to start walking again .... I stopped over the long, cold winter .... spring is here ... no more excuses.
I, too, need to get rid of my muffin top and my belly .... dang! Why is this happening to me???? LOL
Have a great weekend.

PS Just became a new follower.
Thanks for visiting and following, Diane! I really appreciate it :) Yes, i have to get that soap! I hate to admit but I did not start that diet...I can't do it on a Friday. Monday, for sure! Good luck with your walking!
DeleteFunny, funny, cute post! Yes I have many names for my kitty....Miss Kitty...but usually call her Rotten Pickin Lickin Cat....in a loving way!.....do you feel better now!? Your doggy is adorable. I love the soap....cat butt is the best! Yes, get it!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am laughing, and feeling much better. I love that name Rotten Pickin Lickin Cat -- It's very similar to Puppy-Dog-Girl-Face! Thanks for stopping by, AnnMarie!
DeleteRun -don't walk-back and get that Cat Butt soap. Seriously? How could you leave without buying it? lol What a fun random post- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI must have been out of my head to leave without it, but I've remedied that!
DeleteI have so many ridiculous names for my cats that I lost count and I think when I call them in the garden my neighbours wonder what the hell I'm saying! I like the idea as berry instead of broccolis! To bad they are not in season in Brittany.... Waiting for summer to do the substitution! And you definitely need to go back and buy that cat butt soap! Possibly the Soaprah one too!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to eaves drop and hear you call your kitties! We can get berries here pretty much anytime, but of course they cost more when they are out of season. I like the European way better -- only can get things when they are truly in season! I definitely should have gotten the soap...
DeleteSo funny :-) I don't know which random thought to comment on first! I have crazy names for my dog; anyone who doesn't isn't normal. Blackberries are the new strawberries and oranges are the new apples - I can't keep enough of them in the house. I vowed to shed my winter "coat" in March and cut myself off chocolate - it's working (you have no idea how much dairy-free chocolate I consumed!) But, I think the lack of caffeine (chocolate has it and I don' drink coffee) has made me sleep better/longer, and get tired earlier. Maybe it will work for you. And you must tell me where you found that soap - my BFF would totally put that out in her house :-)
ReplyDeleteAh, you are right, Beth...people who don't have crazy names are the "not-normal" ones! I cannot give up my dark chocolate -- I don't eat much of it, though, and I don't eat it past late afternoon. But I need to give up something! Bagels, maybe??? I saw the soap at Ricky's in NYC (the one on 79th and 3rd), but you can order it online from Amazon.
DeleteSadie is too cute! Good luck with the diet.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah. The diet was an epic fail this weekend. Tomorrow!
DeleteSo many nicknames for our pets... too many. I think it's the baby-talk thing we pet moms do.
ReplyDeleteSeems everyone is having trouble sleeping right now. Unsettling...
Have a great weekend!
"Pet Moms" -- I like that! Yes, it's amazing how many people say they can't fall asleep easily.
DeleteI've had trouble with sleeping lately too. So frustrating! I call my dog Olivarious (his name is Ollie or Oliver). That's my main nickname for him, though he doesn't want to answer to it. Ok, now I really want to add some blackberries to my diet! Haven't eaten any in forever, and I love them.
ReplyDeleteI just bought some more blackberries, and strawberries, too. I've found that if I leave them in the fridge, no one eats them (unless I wash them), but if I put them on the dinner table, they eat them up. Whatever it takes!
DeleteThose soaps are hysterical! You should definitely go back and get a couple! We have pet names for our animals too. Saint is Sainty, Clara is Clara Belle, Murphy is Smurfy, which I hate, but I call him it anyway, Luna is Lu and Lulu, Oreo is Orzo, and Calypso is Caly and Caly Cat, Gunner is Big Boy (he's a very heavy cat). It's a pet mom thing, I think.
ReplyDeleteWith all your pets, it's a wonder you can keep all the names straight! I think we are at our most creative when coining these "pet" names! I made a big mistake by not getting those soaps, but at least the mistake can be rectified!
DeleteI am embarrassed at how many nick names my boy has. His partial name is Buoy Michael Patrick Curley(sic) eye whiskers Harley Daniel Viking .... I call him Boo or Boo Boy or Mr. Handsome, or Booers, Buoy-Buoy-Buoy-Buoy.... When he is in trouble...it is Buoy Michael Patrick.... ( he is almost never in trouble). He is a yellow/white lab that I adopted.... he is the best. So - - I totally understand!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your names! That first one is quite a mouthful!
DeleteHi Amy! I hear you on the no-shut-eye problem. I am always jealous of people who fall asleep the moment they hit a pillow. Strike that-- on the way to hit the pillow!
ReplyDeleteBlackberries are awesome, so are other berries. My favorite snack-- Greek yogurt, granola (DYI), and a mount of berries on top. I think the fancy name is Parfait. It keeps me full between meals, and keeps my sweet tooth under control.
I decided diets are not gonna work for me. The last one I did was called an American diet, it worked...until it didn't. The "parfaits" it is for me. And other yummy healthy stuff like your kale frittata (in the oven as I type)!
Hope you are having a nice relaxing weekend!
Mila@milasmilieu.com
Hi Mila, I often have Greek yogurt, fruit and granola (I've been buying Trader Joe's gluten free), but I am going to try your homemade version! I hope you enjoyed the kale frittata!
DeleteThe frittata came out perfect, all six of us enjoyed it! A great light option to add to the menu. Also very versatile! Thanks Amy!
DeleteSadie is so cute. I love that she's a little ball of fur :) I'd get the soap, imagine the conversations that would generate - lol!
ReplyDeleteShe is a little sweetie! Can you believe I walked out of that store without buying the soaps? What kind of blogger am I? Hope you've been well, Eileen!
DeleteShe is a little sweetie! Can you believe I walked out of that store without buying the soaps? What kind of blogger am I? Hope you've been well, Eileen!
DeleteOMG Amy! Sadie reminds me soooooo much of my granddog Charlie! He's all black though, but seriously, the face is spot on. If you get the time, please visit and check out my sidebar post, 'our puppy story' for a look see.
ReplyDeleteI'm cracking up at those soaps! I think I would have to get all three, but I'm weird that way ;).
Oh, wow, Doreen! I did look at Charlie's picture and they do look EXACTLY alike! Sadie is a cockapoo. What is Charlie? I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy those soaps!
DeleteThat was indeed random. My family like berries about a thousand times more than they like brocolli and spinach. There's still hope for a nutritious diet! I also want a Flat Belly but am not on any particular diet. I think if I cut down on eating (chocolate) chips out of the bag, that might help a lot.
ReplyDeleteTonight I had cauliflower and strawberries on the table. My son went right for the berries. I hear you - if I stop snacking at night, maybe I'd stand a chance of losing a few pounds!
DeleteYes go back and get it, lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat was I thinking, Deb? Insanity to have left it on the shelf!
DeleteUm yes...who can live without Cat But in their fridge?
ReplyDeleteNo one should, Corinne!
