You might think that a big city
couldn't/wouldn't do "fall" very well.
With skyscrapers, apartment buildings,
With skyscrapers, apartment buildings,
and all that concrete,
it's hard to imagine Manhattan "decorating" for fall.
But take a walk around the city,
and you will see that New Yorkers
have their own unique autumn style.
The first three photos, below,
were taken on October 12, 2021 with my cell phone.
The rest are from my archives.
Stroll through posh neighborhoods,
and you may see some grand displays in front of town homes.
Or, with a door as opulent as this,
understated fall decor is the way to go.
It's the storefronts that give city streets glorious jolts of fall color.
Mums stretch for blocks all along Park Avenue.
They are planted and paid for by The Fund For Park Avenue,
a non-profit organization.
Rockefeller Center is always decked out
for the different seasons.
Restaurants with outdoor seating like to get into the act.
You never know where you might find a citified pumpkin patch.
🍁🍁 Happy Fall......New York City style!! 🍁🍁
'Til next time,
Fall season is such a pretty time of year in the city. It's decorated with such pretty colored mums and pumpkins. The flowers on Park Avenue are just amazing. Thanks for this fun taking us along in the city with you Amy. I hope you have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. You got some really lovely shots. I am itching to get into the city next month.
ReplyDeleteAmy, I saw your pretty picture on Instagram and had to come over for more fall in NYC. Lovely! I love that door with the few mums, but the front stoop decked out is hard to beat!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love Fall so to me Fall decor makes everywhere pretty.
ReplyDeleteOh Amy, it's really beautiful! And yes, VERY fallish!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I've noticed that cell phone cameras are so good these days!!
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful. Those brownstones are gorgeous all by themselves then add some fall decor and you have such beauty. The flowers everywhere in New York City are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing this pretty with us. Have a great week. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWow those were some beautiful pictures. Thanks for taking us along on a little tour. Those mums are gorgeous and I loved all the pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos Amy. NYC has certainly decked out their neighborhoods. I love seeing the brownstones. The wows are amazing and looks so pretty. Thanks for taking us on a virtual tour of fall in NYC.
ReplyDeleteThe colours are ravishing, Amy, akin to a country market and a flower shop on the streets of the city. I am sure it must be uplifting for the citizens of the metropolis. I have visited New York several times, but always for business reasons, and I have no recollection of colour in the streets. I saw several board rooms, however, and was once almost run down by a car driven by, as my business friend said so eloquently, "A schmuck from Jersey!" I would have preferred pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteSo enjoyed looking at New York City in the Fall. Glad you're back to blogging.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous photos! I've never been there, but can imagine the pull New York City has on people. When I looked at the townhouse, my first thought was: I wonder how much that kind of place cost in those posh neighborhoods?

These scenes are beautiful! Wow, a Fund for Park Avenue, that's amazing. Thanks for sharing the beauty, Amy.
ReplyDeleteWhat beauty everywhere! Love all those mums lined up along the side of the road.
ReplyDeleteThat is so very cool and beautiful. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteA completely different set of New York photos. You have shown a new side to NY with all the colours of fall on the streets. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Fabulous captures!
ReplyDeleteLove the pretty mums and pumpkins.
Thank you for showing me this journey
ReplyDeleteWell, another reason to love NYC! Your photos really captures the brilliant colors and arrangements. I like to see the storefront and shops outdoor florals and decorations since most times it's not a professional job. And ain't this weather great?! My impatiens are still blooming! But my shed is spic and span and I think we're ready to call it a day-I really hate shivering and doing it in the rain and gloom. Then again, I may need some vitamin D when I can grab it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit, Amy! So good to catch up!
Jane ❤️

You do what you have to do and it turns out so well! Terrific decorations all around the town.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your link at My Corner of the World this week!
Beautiful photos of Manhattan's beautiful floral and gourd displays. I lived in NYC most of my life but in Brooklyn when we always looked forward to the trees turning in late October. Now that I am in Colorado fall comes early in September.
