Jord Wooden Watches: A Trendy Fashion Accessory For Fall

You know how you have some friends that you can take anywhere, 
and they'll fit right in?
The friends that are as equally at home at a hoe-down as they are at the opera?
That's kind of how I feel about my new wooden watch.
Pair it with jeans and cowboy boots, and we're ready for the rodeo.
Team it up with pearls and pumps,
and we're off to the opening at the art gallery. 

When I was given the opportunity to receive a Jord wood watch, 
I just assumed I'd choose something for one of my boys,
thinking that wood = masculine. 

But when I checked out the #jordwatch tab on their website, 
and saw how absolutely stylin' they looked on women,

I decided to be completely selfish, and order one for me.
Wooden watches are a hot fashion trend right now, yet,
 Jord's watch designs remain classic enough that it's unlikely they'll go out of style.

I have to tell you, choosing a watch was a tough decision!

The are dozens of styles in the collection, with eight woods to choose from, 
ranging from bamboo, to koa, to zebrawood, as well as many different face colors.
 

 First, I was crushing the Cora in Maple and Lavender, with it's bright pop of color. 

But, with autumn around the corner, I thought the Sydney Maple and Rose Gold

would be a more neutral accessory in my fall wardrobe.
The glint of Swarovski crystals around the bezel caught my eye,
and because I'm all about that bling, 'bout that bling...
 I knew it had my name on it.

I was pretty excited when my watch arrived in the mail.

It came two days before my birthday (Happy Birthday present to me)!

The watch was packaged in a handsome wooden box, 
resting securely around a herringbone pillow.
It makes for a great presentation, when giving as a gift.
I was impressed by how rich the watch looked -- 
the photos on the website were accurate in their depiction. 

I opted to have Jord size the watch for me before shipping,
 by following instructions on their website on how to measure.
Mine was still a little big, so I needed another link removed by a jeweler.
Jord does send you the extra links, by the way, in case it ever needs to be adjusted.

I was so happy I chose the rose gold face.
The light wood, and the shiny face is a pleasing combination of color and texture.
The face changes hue in different lighting...
sometimes it's pale gold, and other times, it's a deeper rose.
Would you look at that face?

Oh, and Sadie is cute, too, isn't she?

 I was laying in bed one night thinking about how great the watch would look 
with different pieces in my fall wardrobe

(yes, this is my idea of FUN!).

Sometimes I think about decorating my house,

other times I think about decorating myself :)

Pairing it with denim is a given...

But it's equally comfortable rubbing shoulders (wrists?) with velvet...

or pearls...




 heels...

and leather!

Pretty versatile, huh?
I think my other watches might be jealous.
 
The watch is surprisingly lightweight, making it extremely comfortable to wear.

Jord watch bands are made of aged hardwoods, and sealed with natural oil extracts.

The watch movements are shock resistant, and crystals are scratch-resistant, 

which is good for me, since I'm a bit of a clutz. 
It's also splash-proof, but I wouldn't recommend wearing it while washing the dishes.

 There are some deets you should know:
 Jord is an automatic watch, which means it requires an initial winding.
After that, regular daily activity should be enough to keep it wound,
if it's worn for at least eight hours a day
(I haven't worn mine daily, and it hasn't needed winding).

It's also suggested that the watch be cleaned with a lemon or orange oil extract.

So not only will it look good, it will smell good, too!

And, if you want to maintain the natural patina,

butcher block oil or beeswax can be applied. 
I think I just may let mine age gracefully.

The first time I took my watch out for a spin,
my manicurist complimented me on it.
Then...the lady in the post office.
And the salesperson in Nordstroms.
Oh, yeah, the cashier at the supermarket.
 Plus a few of my friends.

Compliments galore. 

It's a real conversation time-piece.

I absolutely love my Jord watch!

Truthfully? Even more than I expected to.

Wearing it is like carrying a little piece of nature around with me on my wrist.
