I can't believe summer is over.
Dog Days, indeed.
That is all.
First time EVER that I saw two hummingbirds at the feeder at the same time. AND, I had my camera handy. Hot diggity dog!
I caught this guy red-handed with a green tomato.
At least August brings the sunflowers.
Killing time before an eye doctor appointment in Grace Plaza, where I used to work, and I'm hoping not to run in to anyone that I don't want to see.
Other plants are on their last summer legs, but this one is all ears, and still going strong.
Best peach pie ever! I found it on my friend, AnnMarie's blog, Musings Of A Vintage Junkie. The recipe is here -- save it for next summer. You're welcome.
After a walk on the High Line in NYC on a steamy August day, I was sweaty and my hair was the size of Montana.
This stinger is on his own High Line of sorts.
Jenny is showing off again. The herbs think she's a creep.
It rained like cats and dogs many, many days in August.
The sweet potato vine is doing a "Little Shop Of Horrors" impersonation, and will soon take over the entire deck.
Zip-a-dee-do-dah, zip-a-dee-ay.............my, oh, my, what a wonderful day. Mr. Blue Jay says that's the truth, it's actual. Everything is satisfactual!
S. Q. Uirrel looked guilty, as he tried to eat the gazania, now that he can't get to the tomatoes. My eyes are on you, dude.
There's always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Till next time.......

What beautiful pictures! That hummingbird picture is precious. Thank you for hosting the Best of the Weekend.
ReplyDelete"I could eat watermelon and feta salad every single day"... so could I, it sure looks tasty in your photo here.
ReplyDeleteHappy September Wishes.
All the best Jan
Thanks for the shout out about my pie! Can't wait till next year to try it myself again! We must have bought the sweet potato vine from the same grower because mine has swallowed up my porch steps. They are gorgeous though....love the color green they are. I must have bought at least 5 watermelons this summer and I made a lot of watermelon and feta salads with them....love it! My recipe is a knockoff of Panera's. Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall!!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteNot only are your photos fantastic but I loved your captions. :D
ReplyDeleteYou did it again Amy. Great captures and hysterical captions! Love the one about the tomatoes. Ain’t that the truth?!

I enjoyed looking at your photos. The hummingbirds are amazing and the blue jay! I hate the squirrels and how they ate all of my veggies that i planted this summer. They threw on the ground all of my flowers planted in my pots. I tried putting in hot pepper flakes but that did not keep them away. Next summer i am just sticking to planting flowers and no veggies. :(

I think this is the first time that I read a Photo Diary post. I like the concept! The hummingbirds are pretty neat!! You're hilarious. My favorite is the Jenny and creep joke.
ReplyDeleteYou have the best captions, Amy! And now I'm wondering if our Mr. & Mrs. S. W. Uirrel family are what's eating little holes in our green cherry tomatoes, or maybe it's that horrible hornworm I found on it and dispatched immediately, future moth or not.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to picture you with hair the size of Montana. Mine would be squashed down flat on top from the 10-gallon hat I wear in the sun. I thought I'd get less stares if I switched to a special yellow Sunbrella but now people at the grocery store want to know if it's supposed to rain.
What a lucky shot of the hummingbirds!
