How did it get to be the end of May so fast?
After the longest winter ever,
spring is zipping by way too quickly for me.

This past month for me was all about enjoying the outdoors,
so lots of photos from around the homestead.
Without further ado...
"May" I show you my photos?

I could sit outside all day and take pictures of birds. I think they are onto me now, because they are actually posing.

Yes, I really did pull right off the road on the way to pick up take-out sushi to take this picture. "I'm always chasing rainbows..."

Glad I had time to stop at Bryant Park before meeting a friend for lunch on this perfect spring day.

May 7
No t-shirts for me from Disney...my souvenir was a whisk! I used it to whip up my fondant birthday cake.
May 8
Celebrating my sister's birthday tonight! She's still younger than me, darn it.
May 9
Six turkeys crossed the road...why? I don't know, but only two of them signed the release allowing me to use their picture.
May 10
I set up an "open bar" for local hummingbirds, but so far no takers. What am I doing wrong, I wonder? No pretzels, maybe?
May 11
Mother's Day gift from Junior Goo Shoes...he knows what his mama loves!
May 12
First day it is warm enough to sit on the deck, and work on my blog. Heaven!
May 13
Move-in day for these little birdies.
May 14
Seems most everything was late to bloom this spring, but not the azaleas...right on time.
May 15
"Waterlogued" my house today...
May 16
Remember the birds that moved in a few days ago? I guess they didn't like the neighborhood. A new family is living here now.
May 17
I took a dozen photos of this butterfly, and they came out crappy. Mr. Goo Shoes took one with his phone, and nailed it.
May 18
The day I look forward to every year -- the Greek festival at a local church. Greek pastries make me swoon!
May 19
Peek-a-boo! Or maybe I should say, Peck-a-boo!
May 20
Lunch and a show in Bryant Park. It's Fleet Week in NYC, and the US Navy Jazz band gave a free concert. For a little taste of it, here's a video.
May 21
Let the summer planting begin!
May 22
I finally bought myself three of those flower pots that I gave as gifts on Mother's Day.
May 23
More flowers to be planted. I haven't even made a dent!
May 24
Sadie put on her patriotic outfit for the start of Memorial Day.
May 25
We kicked off the weekend with Skinny Sparkling Raspberry Margaritas...a recipe that I found over at Vicki's Life In My Empty Nest. Delish!
May 26
Yes, that is potato salad on my hotdog. I think the only people on earth who eat hotdogs this way, are from my hometown.
May 27
This was the mother of all Designer Showhouses! Thirty eight stunning rooms! Thanks to one of my readers for sending me an email about it. Watch for a house tour post (or three) in the next few weeks.
May 28
Had to park in a new lot when I went to get my hair cut, which was right smack in the middle of Little Italy. Hey, how did these cannolis get in my car?
May 29
Pretty Lilies of the Valley. Ann from On Sutton Place inspired me to take some from the front of my house, and plant them in the backyard, in this post.
May 30
So this was waiting for me this morning in my new flower box....
May 31
May comes to a close with the rhododendrons at their peak.
Wishing you all a Happy June!
May was gorgeous coming and going, but especially beautiful from you perspective. I love the birds - and the whisk!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I could sit outside all day and watch the birds! I wish we got more variety, but it's still fun to watch them. Happy June!
DeleteLove the pics! Spring makes me feel alive after the longest winter!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like! The longest winter was followed by the shortest spring! It will be summer before we know it!
DeleteYou sure covered in all in these pictures. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Phyllis, it sure was a pretty May!
DeleteThanks for the feature. That snake would have sent me over the edge. Yikes. I love all your NYC pictures and the bird photos too. Thanks for sharing your May.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for participating, Katie! The bird photos are my favorites - I could take hundreds of them! Have a great June!
DeleteLove each day! So fun! My best souvenir from Disney is a magnetic clip for my fridge. I keep all my weekly recipes on it...ya know, the ones I copy from all the great blogs I visit and from Pinterest! Love the whisk. On my list to get next time I am there!
ReplyDeleteAh, AnnMarie, I like that your souvenir is kitchen-y, too! I think I got a pancake mold in the shape of mouse ears, too. My son is too old for that now :(
DeleteP.S. Thanks for the feature from April! It was so much fun to do!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome! I really appreciate that you participated, AnnMarie!
DeleteLooks like you had a nice month of May! That snake would've scared me to death (even though I think it's not poisonous). I just saw a baby snake in my basement (off my garage) and I freaked out! I made my 20 yr old son get rid of it for me. The food at that Greek festival looked good! I'm personally glad that May is over now. It was very stressful for us. We had so much on the calendar and now I'm looking forward to a less hectic month.
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice, relaxing month (for the most part). I think we are going to another Greek festival this weekend - I just love the food (and hubby loves the desserts!). Wishing you a peaceful June, Kelly!
DeleteAmy, Your May was beautiful! I love all your bird photos...and even the snake! Thanks for hosting the "Show Me Your April"...fun, fun, fun! Happy June!
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, Corinne, for participating! I think the bird photos are my favorite, too!
DeleteThank you Amy for hosting the Show Me Your April, it was fun to do. I should have continued with May really, but I really don't know where May went! Yours looks full of colour and delicious goodies, both for you and the wildlife!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you participated, Chel! I really enjoyed spending lots of time outdoors in May...hope the summer doesn't go too fast! Have a good June!
DeleteLoved all your pictures! Pretty and pretty yummy too. Best wishes! s and d
ReplyDeleteThank you, S & D! Hope June is off to a good start for you!
DeleteWonderful photo diary! I enjoyed it. I am a wuss when it comes to snakes...that would not have been the most pleasant surprise to me here! :)
ReplyDeleteI was freaking out, Deb because I just had my hands in there taking out all of the flower pots. EEK! Haven't seen him since - I don't like that he's hiding somewhere and could appear at any moment (hopefully not wrapped around my leg).
DeleteGorgeous photos Amy! I have had such a busy May that I haven't had the time to stop and enjoy the Spring finally showing up, but through your photos, I definitely got to see what I missed! Time to pay a little attention in June :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some relaxing time outside in June, Beth! I'm just hoping that the summer doesn't fly by too fast. I need a Loooooong one!
DeleteHi Amy,
ReplyDeleteTrying to catch up with so many blogger buddies' posts in between spring cleaning, which is difficult since I've been jet lagged for over a week now! Anyway, LOVE your photo diaries and this month is beaming with all those bright and bold flowers - gorgeous pics! Wow, your waterlogued house is wonderful! And, lastly, I hear ya loud and clear re: those decadent Greek pastries, which also make me swoon, but in addition, balloon!!
Have a great week ahead and Happy June!
Poppy
Thanks, Poppy! It felt so good to spend a lot of time outside after our nasty winter. I hope that the summer takes its time...I need it to last awhile. I think we are going to another Greek festival this weekend...the last thing I need is to eat them so close to bathing suit season! But I won't be able to help myself!
DeleteUh, maybe I'll have to re-think that move to Florida! Snakes in the pool? EEK! Happy June, Claire!
ReplyDeleteI loved all of these photo's and such a busy month!! Wish I had one of those cannolis! Blessings dear. Catherine
ReplyDeleteI allowed myself just one of those cannolis, Catherine! It was a mini one, and delish!
DeleteYou know this may just be the best of the best - I love seeing how you spent your month - I have to start doing this!!!
ReplyDeleteSadie Sadie married lady is too cute for words !
And I need to be in Bryant Park - God I miss it !!!
See ya in August Sistah !
xox
