You know the saying........
April Showers bring May Flowers,
but in our case, the merry month of May brought even more.......
and More........
and MORE showers.
May reminded me of a song we used to sing in camp:
"It rained, and rained for 40 daysies, daysies.......
It rained, and rained for 40 daysies, daysies......"
Better get thee to Home Depot and buy some arky-ark materials!
Once the rain stopped, however, it did make for some pretty magnificent blooms.
To kick off the month, seven of us spent a long weekend in Charleston
in celebration of my sister's birthday.
in celebration of my sister's birthday.
Junior Goo Shoes came home from college for the summer.......
just in time for Mother's Day - what a gift!
As has become our tradition, we went to see a Broadway show (The Prom - go see it!),
and then to dinner at Becco in NYC.
and then to dinner at Becco in NYC.
I spent the next two weeks planting flowers and getting my deck ready.........
it was a little self-imposed pressure to get everything finished
before having friends over for Memorial Day.
before having friends over for Memorial Day.
Somehow I got it done, and, the minute everyone arrived,
it started to pour.
They never even made it outside to the deck.
Waaaaaaah!
Any hopes of a quick passing shower were dashed........
it rained for the entire next week.
The sun shone brightly on the last day of May.........
perhaps there's hope for June?
Redbud trees planted last spring bloomed for the first time in early May. Breathtaking!
New York City town home dressed for spring.
Annual tulip spectacular on Park Avenue.
Birthday celebration in Charleston for my sister!
Couldn't beat the view from our hotel!
Oyster shell wreath on Charleston front door -- not something you'd see in NJ!
Here's lookin' at me in Charleston.
Cheers to the arrival of outdoor dining season!
Top Dog.
At The Vessel.
Just call me Dame Of Thrones.
Scooter parking only.
Best cookies in the whole wide world, from Levain Bakery in NYC
(PS - they deliver nationwide!).
Mama Robin sitting on her nest........
........And her babies!
Deck is Done! Where's the sun????
Finally, a brief appearance by Mr. Sunshine.
Maybe it will be sunnier in June.
Maybe in won't.
I hope Mother Nature makes a good decision,
I hope Mother Nature makes a good decision,
because Maybees don't fly in June.
Till next time.........

Hi Amy,
ReplyDeleteI love living vicariously through you and your trips. The pictures are all so great. OK those cookies look so yummy. Have a wonderful start to the new week.
Hugs,
Kris
I know just how you feel! I have hope that June will be sunnier and maybe even warmer but I am so sick of grey skies and rain.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful Mothers Day. Your deck and flowers look so pretty! Have a happy June.
ReplyDeleteAmy, Your patio looks so lovely and cozy! As always, wonderful pics.
ReplyDeleteYour deck is so pretty and Spring-y but where is Spring? We had 52 degrees today and the sun peeked out a little. I really want to use my new white leather Patricia Nash crossbody (my first and I indulged) but it is just not white purse weather yet! I probably would be using it in NYC....just not here yet!
ReplyDeleteSo true about NJ. I didn't think the rain was ever going to end. It has been so depressing. Better not be another wet summer for us.
ReplyDeleteHappy Junior was home from school for Mother's day and you went NYC.
Your flowers look great too.
Such an amazing view outside of your hotel. Hope you all had a great time in Charleston.
Enjoy your night
Cindy
How very beautiful! And happy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteI know about dodging the rain---in order to get anything done...we are about 80% done planting here, the farmers not so lucky---many fields are swimming pools. Gorgeous photos---!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, looks like you had a wonderful month in May!! Your deck always looks gorgeous....mine is a disaster at the moment, needs to be power washed and restained....sigh, I seriously need a clone.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post! Looks like you've been busy...I just recently saw the Prom as well! Wasn't it fun? Thanks for linking up to Best of the Weekend. You were one of my features this week! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteShelley
Your spring is gorgeous , no matter where you are! Did you enjoy The Prom -- it's up for a boatload of Tonys tonight and I've heard good things about it! Thanks for the eye candy!
ReplyDeleteLots of fun may photos Amy. I really want to go to see the Vessel at Hudson Yards.
