20 HOLIDAY GIFTS (NOT JUST) FOR TRAVELERS

Holiday Gift Guide For Travelers | Ms. Toody Goo Shoes

Sometimes, it's hard for me to remember
that I'm a travel blogger.
I'm guessing half of you don't even realize that.......
and why would you?
After all, it was only about a year and a half
before the Corona-coaster rocked our lives,
that I switched the focus of this blog from lifestyle to travel.
and my travel-branding really never got off the ground.

So, if you haven't been following me that long,
you'll have to trust me.......
When it comes to traveling,
I know a thing or two.

I've put together a list of 20 holiday gift ideas for the travelers
(and even some for the armchair travelers) on your list.

I had two strict criteria for my selections:

1). They are things I actually own.
2). I would like them for myself.

This post contains affiliate links.  If you make a purchase after clicking on some of these links, I will make a small commission (at no additional cost to you).

I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT THESE THREE TRAVEL ITEMS.......

Packing Cubes
A friend told me about eBags Packing Cubes  years ago, but I was reluctant to try them. Add something extra to my suitcase? Nope! However...... once I tried them, I was hooked. They don't take up space -- they save space! Cubes are more efficient (and much easier) than plastic compression bags, whether you're going on a two-week, or a two-day trip.

When I go away for the weekend, I pack a medium cube. It fits two pair of pants, two long sleeve tops,  four t-shirts, a pair of flat sandals, and a little black dress. A small cube holds lingerie, etc. I pop them into a tote bag.

Columbia Freezer III Little Black Dress
About that little black dress.......it's super light-weight, and folds up into nothing! The moisture-wicking, wrinkle-free fabric has cooling technology, and blocks UVA and UVB rays. Talk about versatility.......I've worn it as a bathing suit cover up, and also, out to dinner. I love it so much that I bought it in three other prints.

eBags Pack-It-Flat Toiletry Bag
No exaggeration....... This is the Best.Toiletry.Bag.EVER. I can't tell you how many times I've filled my suitcase, only to realize I had no room for my toiletries. Arggghhh! This bag holds everything I need, and packs flat, so the suitcase closes without a single curse word escaping from my mouth. When I reach my destination, I use the hook  inside to hang it up. It's a beautiful thing, worthy of all the praise I'm heaping on it.

MORE GIFT IDEAS:

Airline-Compliant Bags For Liquids
I need to ditch the ziplocs and get some of these to put in my carry-on bag.

Lightweight Waterproof Jacket
I bought this lightweight jacket by Columbia because it's breathable, and takes up almost no space in luggage. Yes, I did spray myself with a hose to make sure it's really waterproof.  It is - but my mascara is not. 😐

Tech Utility Bag
WHERE'S MY PHONE CHARGER????? I wouldn't have to freak out, if I had one of these to keep all of my  devices, chargers, and earphones nice and tidy. It even holds a laptop.

Vaccination Card Protectors
Vaccination cards are the new passports. I'm ordering protectors for the  whole family.

Coffee Table Travel Book #1
I'd love to curl up on the couch with this book, and travel to every country in the world. Bliss!

Coffee Table Travel Book #2
This book would be a great addition to any coffee table......especially mine!

European Plug Adapters
The bonus to these European plug adapters are that they each have two American plug outlets, and two USB ports.

Desktop 2022 Travel Calendar
I've had this calendar before, and loved having a little travel nugget to dream about every day.

Travel Journal
I always take a travel journal on big vacations to write down all the things I'll promptly forget as soon as I get home.

Mixtiles (no nails) Gallery Wall
My favorite travel souvenirs are pictures. Photos go from the camera to the wall with Mixtiles. They adhere with an adhesive strip that won't ruin you walls if you move them.  This is my sister's wall. PS - you don't have to use just travel photos.

EVEN MORE GIFT IDEAS:

Just because it's a necessity, doesn't mean that these can't be cute.

If you really want to be extravagant, give a gift card from here.

This is a great idea if you want to surprise a traveler with a trip.

How about a gift card from here so they can make their own photo book?

This small business was featured on the Today Show, and one of these gift boxes filled with New York love is lots of fun.

This poster, or this one, is great for anyone  with wanderlust.

I love these candles! Whether you are homesick for a particular place, or want to evoke a special mood, there's something sure to please someone (everyone?) on your list.

Happy Shopping!

  1. What a great round up, Amy! I love the Shutterfly idea. I have so many vacation pictures and they're all on our computer. I miss flipping through photo albums and framing the prints. This one's going on my list. Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Thanks, Kim! I love making photo books. I used to make scrap books - what a project those were! This also takes time, but they look great, and I keep them on the coffee table to look through now and again. Best part is, so do other people!

  2. Great stuff Amy! I just ordered the dress, the tech bag, the card protectors and the toiletry bag. Fingers crossed I can use them next month!

    1. Wow, Doreen! I’m glad you liked the list! You are going to love that toiletry bag - it holds so much stuff - even expands length-wise. I have four of those dresses - they’re great! Fingers crossed that you’ll be going on your trip!

    2. Thought I would check back and let you know what I thought. The toiletry bag is a perfect size for my needs, but I think for ‘high maintenance’ people it might be a bit small (I ordered the large). The card holder and charger holder are keepers, but I had to send the dress back. For some reason, mine arrived with a patch on the bodice in a triangle shape which gives it a very casual appearance and not as versatile as I’d hoped. I think it also runs a bit small.

Again, keep your fingers and toes crossed we can travel. The restrictions are getting worse by the day 🙁

  3. Hi Amy,
I have a whole gallery wall of mixtiles and love them. My daughter Kim is getting married next fall and going on a two week cruise to the mediterranean so I have been getting things for her trip for Christmas gifts. Thanks for all the ideas. xoxo Kris

  4. Great ideas for travellers, Amy. It is starting to look like we may be able to travel again too. I am still in shock at the price of airline tickets, but I doubt they are coming down any time soon. Over the years my wife has made a whole series of bags and pouches for specific purposes, and they have served me well. I tend to travel light. I remember a birding trip to Guyana a few years ago and a fellow from Massachusetts brought a set of "travel home clothes" but other than that he had a pair of lightweight pants and a tee shirt that he washed every night. When you are birding deep in the rain forest that works very well! The birds don't care!

  5. Lots of great ideas. I am a strong proponent of packing cubes for travel. They are truly the best! And that toiletries bag looks like a good one!

  6. A great list of practical, space spacing presents for travelers, Amy. For me, the most precious (since I have misplaced a few so far!), are the adapters. I cannot do without them! I've paid a pretty price for purchasing them in Canada, where they are almost twice the price, than here in Greece, so I make sure that they are always the first thing I start assembling for my next trip, which just happens to be less than two weeks away!

Happy Friday and Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

  9. Great tips, Amy! I was so excited when many countries started to open their borders but now with the new variant Omicron spreading fast, my travel hopes are once again dashed.

    Happy Monday!

  10. I love this list!! I love traveling too & a set of packing cubes was honestly one of the most useful gifts I've ever received. I'll have to use some of these other ideas for my friends this holiday season. Especially the travel book!! Thanks for sharing these ideas! I found you through the Love Your Creativity link party & I'm so glad I did :)

I hope you have a happy hanukkah and a great week Amy.

  12. I love this, Amy. You've given me some great ideas. The vaccination protectors would be a great takeaway gift for everyine at Christmas. I love the dress and jacket too. My dental hygienist took photos from her [dental] mission trip to Africa and made mixtiles and hung them in her space at work. They are simply adorable, of many of the Littles she treated, all smiling and brushing in the field.
