what helps to cheer you up?
Perhaps, you lose yourself in a book,
or call a good friend.
Possibly, you work off your anxieties at the gym,
or laugh yourself silly watching a funny movie.
It could be that you pour yourself a stiff drink,
eat an entire box of Mallomars,
and head to the mall to buy ten pairs of shoes.
(Although, I really can't imagine who would do that).
Or maybe, on those days
when the dog bites,
when the bee stings,
when you're feeling sad,
you simply remember your favorite things...
(sing it with me, now)...
and then you don't feel...so...bad!
Now that I've gone all Julie Andrews on you,
Traveling the world, reading a best-seller
Days at the beach, and a jar of Nutella
Jelly beans, football, watching birds spread their wings
These are a few of my favorite things...
Days at the beach, and a jar of Nutella
Jelly beans, football, watching birds spread their wings
These are a few of my favorite things...
A good cup of coffee, a pair of new shoes
Fall colors, and lighthouses, fireworks, too
Cheese, and Greek pastries; the first signs of spring
These are a few of my favorite things...
When the bills come,
When I'm feeling sad...
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad!
What are some of your favorite things?

ReplyDeleteWell Amy you have picked some spectular favorite things, some I share. Not trying to sound esoteric but I think my favorite thing in life is laughter for it lifts your spirits and balances your senses to be joyful minded to appreciate all of life's blessings. Fall color's and early Spring is certainly a favorite thing for me too. Great post!
