STROLLING DOWN "THE AVENUE"...FIFTH AVENUE
Today was a gorgeous day to be in New York City.
Never mind that I started out the day in the doctor's office
having my cholesterol re-checked;
and followed that with a visit to the periodontist
to see how my gum surgery was healing.
My third and final destination was much more pleasant --
lunch with a friend.
As it was a glorious, summer-like day,
I strolled down Fifth Avenue from one appointment to the next.
Temple Emanu-el, founded in 1845; 65th Street and Fifth Ave. |
Looking across Central Park; 64th Street and Fifth Ave. |
The Plaza Hotel, famous NYC landmark since 1907; Central Park West and Fifth Ave. |
Sculpture of Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman; gracing Grand Army Plaza since 1913; 59th Street and Fifth Ave. |
Giant bedpan at Rockefeller Center? No, a steel and fiberglass rendition of Van Gogh's ear; 49th Street and Fifth Ave. |
Tulips have replaced the Easter lilies from my last visit to Rockefeller Center; 49th Street and Fifth Ave. |
Half-Selfie: enjoying coffee in Rockefeller Center before my dental appointment (gums healing nicely, thank you!); 49th Street and Fifth Ave. |
Lunch with a friend at Cafe SFA at Saks Fifth Avenue; 49th Street and Fifth Ave - 8th floor. |

ReplyDeleteIt has been years since I walked through the doors of Saks Fifth Avenue. What a treat that used to be. There was Lord and Taylor's too and Bergdorf Goodman. So much choice!
I'm glad to read that you're healing nicely!
I offer a sigh as well as it was way too long ago that we visited New York! Beautiful tour you gave us today. Looks like the sun was shining all around the world on Monday! And thanks for stopping by to see what these part-time ex pats have been up to in Greece! Hugs.

If I ever have the pleasure to visit NYC, I will give you a call! I know you know it well. I would be SO lost there. It looks so congested, but yet so pretty. They really do have so much to do and see there. It's nice that you can visit all of that between appts.
ReplyDeleteNow I have NYC fever. Hope to return one day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the virtual tour. It's been a few years for me. Sheila
ReplyDeleteEven though you had doctors appointments, it sounds like you had a great day! I love those tulips and of course Rockerfeller Center. Enjoy the rest of the week. :)
