My, oh my, oh my!
How the time did fly!
It was a summer of lazy days and crazy days,
but the over-arching theme was the count-down
to Junior Goo Shoes' departure to college.
Here's a sampling of what happened
in between the many trips to Bed, Bath & Beyond,
which seemed to be where I spent
most of my time (and money) this summer.

There were flowers here........
and, flowers there (yes, I bought them)........
Flowers everywhere (if only we could buy one of these!).
Flowers everywhere (if only we could buy one of these!).
There were little things growing.......
and big things growing.
There was finding out what all the fuss is over Bubble Tea
(Feh, it was not my cup of tea; in fact, a bummer)......
(Feh, it was not my cup of tea; in fact, a bummer)......
I much preferred a crisp rosé (a yummer)........
and then, there was a hummer.
There was the view up the Hudson River from the Jersey side........
and several days spent on the Manhattan side.
and several days spent on the Manhattan side.
There was a non-elusive butterfly........
and a dog who kept her eye on the prize, hoping for a kernel gone awry.
There were days of eating healthy......
and days of falling off the diet wagon.
There were birds who came to eat........
and a baby bird (a dove?) who came to rest on the deck post.
There was "The Orchestra " (formerly known as Electric Light Orchestra)........
and, yes, there was this:
(formerly known as my sunglasses).
There was packing and packing and packing for college.......
There was an early 18th birthday celebration........
and then, after two years of talking about nothing else,
college move-in day was finally here.
There was a waxing gibbous moon......
and last but not least, there were two blog friends meeting for the first time!
AnnMarie from Musings of a Vintage Junkie and I got together
when she and her family came to New York City over Labor Day weekend.
What a treat!
What a treat!
Thanks for making time for me on your busy weekend, AnnMarie!
And so the summer came and went,
but there are many things to look forward to around the bend!
Until next time.......
Time DOES fly doesn't it, but you have lots to show for it Amy. Love your pics, especially of NY. When we went last week it was soul satisfying after being away so long.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know ELO is now The Orchestra. Where have I been?! .
I know you told us where your son is going to school, but I can't remember. How's it going so far?
Looks like you're in a bread bakery with Ann Marie?
So it's 4:30 and I'm up. :( Today we will be picking up and loading the truck and tomorrow heading down to NC. Fingers crossed my back holds up!
xxz
Oh Amy, you have had a very full "summa". Love your pictures and delightful commentary. It's crazy how suddenly our child is off to college and how it tugs at our hearts! Love, love your new jeans!
ReplyDeleteNext time I come to NY we must go jean shopping! I love your flower jeans here and the beaded ones you showed me in NY. I need to visit your go-to shopping places. All I bought while I was there was a dumb sweatshirt at Chelsea market....a nice dumb sweatshirt, but still....I just LOVE your photo diary posts!!
ReplyDeleteBloggers...Amy is as much fun to talk to in person as she is in her posts!
Thank you, AnnMarie! By the way, the flowered jeans in this photo are from Lord and Taylor. Embroidered jeans seem to be all the rage this fall, so they are everywhere. The black jeans embellished with beads that I showed you are from Zara. Maybe you have those stores in your local malls?
DeleteI love this post! About eight months ago, I lost my desire to write (or even read) a blog. But I still have a reader that I check occasionally and I love seeing what is going on with you personally--even way more than the best of the weekends, etc. It looks like you had a fantastic summer and I can't wait to see what you do in your new empty nest!
ReplyDeleteAmy, great collection of photos! I always enjoy your posts. Those jeans are a 70's throwback ... love 'em!
ReplyDeleteI love your photo diaries---I become so enthralled with where I am, I forget to take pictures...sadly. So enjoy your NY state of mind!
ReplyDeleteI love your 'week in photos' posts!! It's like a tiny peek into your busy life! It's hard when the kids go off to school, isn't it? I cried like crazy when my older daughter went away to school!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a wonderful summer. Such beautiful pictures! ❤️
