May I have two minutes of your time?
Seriously, just two minutes.......
I promise that's all it will take to read this blog post.
Really, really!
Depending on what you've got going on right now,
that's either a big ask or no big deal.
It's funny, isn't it, how sometimes, two minutes seems like two hours,
and other times it feels like two seconds.
In fact, it seems to me, it's not all that often
that two minutes actually feels like two minutes.
When two minutes seems like an eternity.......

It's freezing outside, and you're waiting for the bus.
Huffing and puffing through those last couple of minutes on the treadmill.
Texting your teen, and waiting for their answer.

Waiting for the elevator when you're late for an appointment.
Talking to someone you don't like, at a party.
Waiting for your doctor to give her diagnosis.
Holding your breath under water, if you had to.
Sitting through commercials during your favorite show.
When two minutes doesn't really mean two minutes........

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this train is being held in the station for just a couple of minutes. We'll be moving shortly."
"Your call will be answered in approximately two minutes."
"We'll have a table for you in just a couple of minutes."
I'll just read for two more minutes and then turn out the light.
"It's only a two-minute walk."
"The doctor is running a couple of minutes behind."
"Fill out this survey - it will only take two minutes."
When two minutes is a bummer........

It's 12:02 a.m. and your name is Cinderella.
When two minutes really matters.......
Timing soft-boiled eggs.
When two minutes are really awkward.......
The realization that it's Moonlight that won Best Picture, not La La Land.
When two minutes pay benefits....
Finding time during the day for a brief meditation.
Resting your tired dogs for even a couple of minutes.
When two minutes are super-productive...
Setting the timer, and speed-cleaning the kitchen.
When two minutes are really scary........

When two minutes is way too short.......
At the airport, saying goodbye to someone you love.

AND.......

ReplyDeleteIt WAS well spent, but it was just a teensy bit more than two minutes. ;)
ReplyDeleteThese examples are super relatable Amy. We've all btdt waiting in line at the ladies room more than a few times.
Very creative post, and I still can't believe how much your baby looks like Charlie! Such a sweetie :)
(On our way to NC today. Just waiting for Fisherman to wake up. What else is new lol).
I love this post! I love how your mind works with your creativity and you came up with all the good and bad two minutes there are. I bet it took more than two minutes to come up with all the two minute examples!

Amy that was such a fun read. And I even recognized some of your photos. I'm of the five minute variety. "I'll be there in five minutes" and then my kids roll their eyes at me.
ReplyDeleteThose were two fun and interesting minutes... Time is relative...
ReplyDeleteVery clever, Amy! I love a post like this one. It took a bit longer than two minutes.....but that was a bonus.
