  1. There's just something about a lighthouses.......
There are lots here on the west coast, though not many are manned anymore. Automation has stripped some of the romance, though I know two lighthouse keepers - imagine!

    1. I agree, there's something about them. Most here are not manned, either. I can't say I know any lighthouse keepers!

  2. I love lighthouses, so much safety in such a harsh climate. To think that there was so much importance in these buildings and now with all the technology, they are seen more as ornaments.

    1. I know, it's kind of sad, isn't it, Chel, that there is no real use for them anymore. Everyone seems to love them, though!

  4. I love lighthouses as much as I do ships, perhaps they both signify heading into the unknown? Nice photos!

  8. Amy, I think you and are were thinking the same thing. This summer I road-tripped down the eastern seaboard and marveled at lighthouse after lighthouse. Plus I definitely look for them elsewhere when I travel. Just yesterday I thought I should do a lighthouse montage. I guess I'll wait a few months! As always, great photos and thanks for linking up with Weekend Travel Inspiration!

  9. The lighthouse in the Hudson River is unusual. Are they all still working lighthouses?

    1. I don't think either of them are working. I'm glad that they haven't torn them down!

  18. I LOVE lighthouses!! Something so whimsical about them - perhaps it's the fact that they are there to guide and protect all those seafaring folks when the rest of the world is asleep. Beautiful images!!
