There's just something about a lighthouses.......
ReplyDeleteThere are lots here on the west coast, though not many are manned anymore. Automation has stripped some of the romance, though I know two lighthouse keepers - imagine!
I agree, there's something about them. Most here are not manned, either. I can't say I know any lighthouse keepers!
DeleteI love lighthouses, so much safety in such a harsh climate. To think that there was so much importance in these buildings and now with all the technology, they are seen more as ornaments.
ReplyDeleteI know, it's kind of sad, isn't it, Chel, that there is no real use for them anymore. Everyone seems to love them, though!
DeleteLoved this. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked, Phyllis! Thanks, as always, for commenting :)
DeleteI love lighthouses as much as I do ships, perhaps they both signify heading into the unknown? Nice photos!
ReplyDeleteThere is something romantic and mysterious about them! Thank you so much for visiting, and leaving a comment!

ReplyDeleteWhat is it about lighthouses that people find so appealing? They seem so romantic and mysterious.
DeleteAmy, I think you and are were thinking the same thing. This summer I road-tripped down the eastern seaboard and marveled at lighthouse after lighthouse. Plus I definitely look for them elsewhere when I travel. Just yesterday I thought I should do a lighthouse montage. I guess I'll wait a few months! As always, great photos and thanks for linking up with Weekend Travel Inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI'll look forward to your lighthouse post, Corinne!
DeleteBeautiful photos...

DeleteThe lighthouse in the Hudson River is unusual. Are they all still working lighthouses?
ReplyDeleteI don't think either of them are working. I'm glad that they haven't torn them down!
